Removal
Blind spot detection (BSD) unit
1.
Disconnect the negative (-) battery.
   
Be careful when removing the blind spot detection unit. The bracket may break off from the bumper.
2.
Remove the rear bumper.
(Refer to Body - "Rear Bumper Cover")
3.
Remove the blind spot detection unit (A) after loosening the mounting nuts.

Installation
Blind spot detection (BSD) unit
1.
Ready the radar sensor RH and LH for each side properly.
2.
Install the radar sensor to the bracket correctly (distinguish RH & LH) with mounting nuts.

   
The shape of the left and right blind spot detection unit is different. Therefore, take notice when installing the blind spot detection unit.
Radar Sensors must be closed up against the bracket completely.
After mounting radar sensors, check a wobble.

Remark
The location of the bracket is different.

3.
When replacing the BSD unit , you have to input the detailed regional information into the BSD unit. This learning process is called variant coding.
   
Follow the procedures which describes on the GDS screen.
Inspection
Blind Spot Detection Radar Calibration
To sense the cars exactly in the next lane with the radar, the direction of the sensor and the direction of the vehicle have to align.
This is BSD unit alignment. If this alignment is not performed as below illustration, the degradation of detection performance and the cause of false alarms.
The rear bumper accident vehicle and after replacing the BSD unit vehicle have to do this align especially.

1.
The rear bumper accident vehicle and after replacing the BSD unit vehicle have to do BSD unit alignment using GDS.
2.
Select "BSD Radar Calibration" procedure in BSD system.

3.
Perform the "BSD Radar Calibration" procedure according to the GDS screen message.

Blind Spot Detection Variant Coding
BSD Variant Coding
1.
Select the "BSD Variant Coding" procedure in BSD system.

2.
Perform the "BSD Variant Coding" procedure according to the GDS screen message.

3.
Select "C1" or "C2" for each region and then proceed the BSD variant coding process.

BSD Variant Code Reading
1.
Select the "BSD Variant Code Reading" procedure.

2.
Proceed the "BSD Variant Code Reading" procedure according to the GDS screen message.

   
If BSD unit does not set "BSD Variant Coding", "Variant code : None" is verified.
Perform the "BSD Variant Coding" certainly.
